Walk Details

The meeting point for each walk is given on the programme, together with an OS grid reference where possible.  Owing to the rural nature of East Anglia the meeting points are usually a car park, or near suitable car parking.  Unfortunately these locations may not be accessible by public transport.  Walk leaders will be able to give you details of how to get to the starting point etc.

The walks are generally between 6 and 10 miles (unless otherwise specified), and tend to be shorter during the winter months.

Whilst the majority of walks will include a stop at a pub for liquid refreshments, we do not stay long enough to eat.  It is therefore recommended that you bring a packed lunch, and any other snacks that you feel are necessary to sustain you for the day, and we will make a suitable lunch stop somewhere along the route.

It is recommended that you bring a water bottle on all walks, and in the winter months bring a flask containing a hot drink.

Clothing and Equipment
Please bring waterproof clothing (jacket and over trousers), warm clothing (plenty of layers), gloves, hats, scarf etc... as appropriate to the time of year.  Remember that the weather can change during the course of the day.

Walking trousers (but not jeans) are recommended, especially if it looks like rain!

The walking conditions in East Anglia are usually easy under foot, and the terrain is generally rather flat. Comfortable waterproof walking boots are recommended for all walks.  If trainers are worn (some walkers prefer to wear trainers for walking especially during the summer months), please be aware that they do not provide the same level of support to the ankles, are generally not water (or mud) proof and the walk organisers cannot guarantee their suitability for any particular walk.

Car Sharing
Please try to share lifts where possible.  Not only is this environmentally friendly, but also helps to reduce congestion at the starting points.  As members are spread all around the region, there may be someone going your way!

We occasionally receive requests if anyone can give a lift to other members (or potential new members) who for one reason or other do not have transport to get them to and from meeting points.  If you are willing to give someone a lift, it would be appreciated if can you let the committee know so that we know who to ask.  If you do require a lift, please ask someone on the committee in good time. We can't promise anything, but we may be able to arrange something.
